Spotted Mustard

So I'm typing this up a bit late/early, which is no surprise since I'm quite the skilled procrastinator. But, I'm starting to get super tired so this might be short. These photos are pretty old (my hair's not melted in them!) but I somehow forgot to put them up! They're a little dark (this daylight savings thing is KILLER).

I've been really into throwing a collared shirt under a comfy sweater a lot this season. It's just so easy and warm and still really cute! If you just add some cute details you can make a lounge-y outfit work! I love that a little of my polka-dotted shirt showed along with the collar! Also, I'm totally wearing the same socks and boots combo as here. Haha! I must really love these socks....

I just started working full-time at the bank this week and it's kind of wearing on me! I'm so used to more sleep! I'm sure learning to appreciate the weekend more! Although I'm not sure I'll get much rest this weekend, we have TONS of fun plans! Including finally getting a Christmas Tree! Yay!!

Inspiration: Borrowed

Hope you all had an awesome, long weekend! Time for the hard transition back to real life, ugh. Time off is NEVER long enough. I decided to join this week's Inspiration Monday and use it to my advantage. Mary-Kate Olsen's oversized plaid was the perfect comfy outfit to throw on over the weekend for a little shopping and lunch with the Hubby.

Speaking of the Hubby, since I own no plaid whatsoever (I know, sad right?) I borrowed this shirt from him. It took quite a bit of rolling, tucking and pulling to get it to look acceptable (he's a very TALL guy) but it definitely helped me pull of that oversized look. This is the first time I've worn something of his - out of the house that is. It felt a little odd to say the least.

I've been feeling a little down lately but lucky me I have an amazing guy who knows how to cheer me up. Friday was my half-birthday, although neither of us remembered that until Saturday morning. So Saturday he took me to lunch, then to the mall where he let me pick out a little gift. We ended the day at the movies - we finally saw Breaking Dawn Part 2. He spoils me! That's good enough for a real birthday, not just a silly half. I'm truly lucky and feeling very aware of it!

Thanksgiving Weekend

Hello again! How was your Thanksgiving?! I actually had 3 Thanksgivings... My Hubby's family did an early Thanksgiving last Sunday and then another one with just the immediate family (he has a pretty big family) the day of. My family got together earlier in the day, so we were able to go to both (and eat WAY too much!!) This is what (one of) my plate(s) looked like:

Yes, I am a vegetarian (meat=yuck in my book) so no turkey, but I stuffed my face with potatoes, pie, lots of veggies and my personal favorite, rolls!

I wanted something stretchy and forgiving to wear to dinner but still stylish of course because as much as I love sweats, they're not so great on the eyes. So continuing my obsession with velvet (and collars) I reached for this lovely dress. Then I felt too fancy, so I tried dressing it down a bit with the cardigan and booties. I ended up really liking the combo and it was super comfy!

Any of you join in the Black Friday Madness? I decided to skip it this year and go for Cyber Monday instead. Any suggestions on where to shop??

Dessert Social

Hey pretty people! It seems like it's been a while! I'll be over at Flock Together tomorrow with an outfit post but for today I thought I'd share some photos from the dessert social over the weekend.
Friday night Nikki, Aubry and Jenny hosted an awesome blogger get-together over dessert at Gourmandise in Salt Lake! I carpooled up with my pretty new friend Gentri and we mingled, made new friends and ahhhed over pretty jewelry from Stella&Dot (I seriously wanted everything!)
(my two favorite bracelets and a super cute clutch)
This is only about a third of the dessert selection! So many yummy things to choose from! I ended up getting tiramisu, which is one of my very favorite desserts and it didn't disappoint! I would definitely recommend checking out Gourmandise. Along with the huge variety of desserts and pastries they also had some pretty delicious looking breads!
And here's a photo of all of us taken on Aubry's camera by a random stranger in the cafe. Lol. I must not have known when the photo was being taken because I'm not smiling very big...
Hope you all had an amazing weekend and survived the first couple days of the week! My weekend was way too short. Can't wait for Thursday where the entire day is dedicated to food, family, rest and giving thanks for all of the above!

Snow Daze

.

Happy Weekend! I still have a few outfit shots from the days of slightly warmer weather but I'm skipping ahead to show you what it looks like in my world right now. These photos are from a few days after our recent snowstorm (it was also really bright so that's to blame for the squinty eyes) Luckily the lovely Rachel's warm snowflake sweater came in the mail at the perfect time!

I felt it was only right to wear a snowflake sweater with snow on the ground, and besides being so cute it's also thick and cozy! Perfection. Warmth is becoming a crucial factor for me now that Winter has hit. Gah, I hate the cold!!

I feel like the cold has been forcing me to wear pants more lately. I guess its just easier. But I have tons of tights so I'm making a goal to bring them out more (especially the nice thick ones). I'm totally wishing I had more maxi skirts to hide leggings under. Haha!

I have to mention that my scarf is VELVET. Yep. I saw this beauty at my favorite thrift/exchange store with the tags still on and knew we were going home together. I mean, it's velvet. And the $6 price tag was kind of awesome as well... Also, these booties are probably my favorite, after my velvet ones of course. Red/orange shoes are kind of a theme for me right now I guess.
